Rob Mercier started playing guitar at the age of 12 in 1963 and was heavily influenced by the Fab Four, "The Beatles". He played in High School with three different rock bands and continued playing Rock & Roll through his college days to pay for school and a vehicle. In 1971 Rob joined a jazz quartette, "Music Express" and played in Buffalo and Canada for the next 2 years, playing 6 nights a week, meeting some of the finest jazz and rock players in the Buffalo and Southern and Central Canadian areas. Rob said those jam sessions until 6 AM were unbelievable! In 1973 Rob put a classic rock band together, "Railway Express" and worked for the next 5 years, playing 6 nights a week, in a 6 state area. Railway Express released 4 single records with local and regional success. In 1978 Rob came back off the road and put together yet another rock band called "Tarkus" and enjoyed multiple state success with several original songs. The "Pink Floyd" tribute with "Tarkus" was one of their great successes. In 1986 Rob retired from the road to spend needed time with his family. In 2001 a bunch of middle aged, very good musicians, got together and formed the current "Usual Suspects". For the last 7 years "Usual Suspects" have played in multiple cities for Corporate Events, Weddings, Outdoor Concerts, Night Clubs, Reunions, and Benefits. Even though Rob has actually gotten senior citizen discounts he says that the music with "Usual Suspects" keeps him feeling young!
